Comparing Auto Insurance Quotes? Don’t Just Look at the Price

Shopping for auto insurance seems pretty straightforward until you actually start comparing quotes.

One company might be hundreds of dollars cheaper than another. Great—but is it really the same coverage for less money?

That’s the part that can get confusing.

When comparing quotes, look beyond the premium. Check the deductibles, liability limits, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, rental reimbursement, roadside assistance, and any other features shown on the quotes.

For example, a quote might save you $400 a year but increase your collision deductible from $500 to $1,000. Another might leave out rental reimbursement. Those differences don’t necessarily make the quote good or bad—they just mean you aren’t comparing identical terms.

And if something isn't shown on a quote, don't assume it's included. That's something to confirm before making a decision.

A simple way to think about it is:

What does it cost? What changed? What do I still need to confirm?

That’s also why we created Auto Insurance Quote Check™ at Digital Clarity Tools. It lets you put your current policy next to up to four competing quotes and compare the information side by side—including premiums, deductibles, coverage limits, features, and anything that may still need confirmation.

The goal isn't to tell you which insurance company or policy to choose. It's simply to make the comparison easier to understand before you decide.

Auto Insurance Quote Check™ is a decision-support tool, not insurance advice. Always confirm important policy and quote information before changing coverage.
